Craftsman Collision fills courtesy cars with food donations

On Saturday, September 13th from 1:00-5:00pm Craftsman Collision and Save-On-Foods teamed up with The Salvation Army Family Services to ensure that no families go hungry this Fall, by hosting a day long food drive – complete with community cheer, Salvation Army Band and the Sally-Ann mascot!

Craftsman Collision pledged to match every item donated, which means that for every can donated by a participating customer, two cans of soup will make it onto the shelves in the Community in which the Make a Dent food drive was hosted.  Upon entering Save-On-Foods, customers were given a shopping list of ideal non-perishable food items to shop for and donate. Throughout the day, the donations collected and filled a Craftsman Collision courtesy car. The 2014 Making a Dent Food Drive raised over $23,872.14 in food and finances for The Salvation Army’s Family Services.

The Salvation Army has seen an increase in demand throughout British Columbia, as more families have come to rely on their services to put food on the table.  On top of that, many food banks throughout the province have had trouble stocking the shelves, with fewer businesses and individuals being able to part with food donations in these difficult economic times. Craftsman Collision is helping to stock The Salvation Army’s shelves – and are making a dent in hunger.
