2017 Craftsman Collision Canada Day Fireworks

Canada Day Fireworks are a go!

The North Okanagan Canada Day Society is proud to announce that the “The Craftsman Collision Canada Day Fireworks” will be presented once again this year thanks to our title sponsor Craftsman Collision. Their community minded sponsorship and national pride will allow residents and visitors to the North Okanagan to enjoy a spectacular celebration for Canada’s 150th birthday. President Dave Frost said “We can’t thank them enough for stepping forward in helping to make this year’s show the biggest and most elaborate display we have ever produced”.

This year’s fireworks location will be on Okanagan Lake and begin at 10:30PM on a barge a safe distance away from Kin Beach with the best views from Kin Beach, Sandy
beach and Paddlewheel Park. There are many vantage points on Bella Vista and Bench roads for those that wish to view from a distance.

The show is once again going to be choreographed and synchronized to music on 107.5 KISS FM. Spectators on Kin Beach will be able to hear the music broadcast directly. It is recommended to use your vehicle’s radio or portable FM radio tuned to 107.5 KISS FM in order to listen to the simulcast if not at the beach. Internet access to KISS FM’s broadcast via WIFI or LTE using a cell phone or other device will have a built in delay and will not be in sync with the fireworks. Try your best to access the music as it will dramatically enhance your experience. So please dig out your old FM radios or crank up your vehicle stereo to listen.

Pets and Alcohol are not allowed on any of the beaches.

RCMP and Vernon Search and Rescue boats will be on hand to maintain safe distances on the water, along with RCMP and Citizens on Patrol on the beaches. As far as clean up goes, a special thank you to the many volunteers and to Vernon’s own Inner Space Watersports Inc. and Vernon Yacht Club, who have graciously volunteered to assist in clean up of any debris on the water or that may sink around the firing site. If additional volunteers would like to help with clean up please send an email to nocds.1867@gmail.com.

The fireworks are a local, regional and national celebration and we ask for everyone to pitch in with clean up wherever they can. We are very confident that the residents and spectators to this year’s show will help make this a wonderful celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our local sponsors including Craftsman Collision, Pinnacle Pellet Renewable Energy, Davidson Pringle Lawyers, Vernon Volkswagen, Sutton Lakefront Realty, Kal Tire, Okanagan Restoration, BX/Swan Lake Fire Department and 107.5 KISS FM. Please thank these sponsors when you see them as they have supported the Fireworks display year after year. Special thanks to our new sponsors who provided support via in-kind donations, Anchors Aweigh Marine and Barge Services, Progressive Waste Solutions, Big Steel Box, Innerspace Watersports Inc, and Outboard Lakefront Pub.

We would also like to acknowledge the Government of Canada for partly funding the display via a Heritage Canada Grant along with the contributions from the City of Vernon as well as the Okanagan Indian Band.
