(KELOWNA, BC) The Christmas season can be a tough time for those in need. But for one lucky family or organization in the Central Okanagan, Christmas 2014 promises to be an experience that’s both joyful and moving – in every sense of the word.

That’s because Craftsman Collision has teamed up with Royal Sun Alliance (RSA) and the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) to create the Freedom Road Project, in which we’re giving away a refurbished, almost-like-new Limited Edition 2010 Ford Explorer.

Donated by RSA and restored by Craftsman’s skilled team of autobody technicians and painters, the previously hail-damaged Explorer will look almost like new and will come with $1000 worth of insurance provided by BCAA.

“People know us as BC’s leading bodyshop, but we’re also the leader in sharing our good fortune with charitable organizations,” says Bill Hatswell, President and founder of Craftsman, which he says has donated over $1.3 million to charities in the last 10 years alone. “When RSA approached us with the idea, we jumped at the chance. The Freedom Road Project suits us perfectly – we’re more than happy to contribute our time and skills to someone in the Okanagan who really needs this vehicle.”

With its 300-year heritage, RSA is a leading multinational insurance group, with offices around the world and business transactions in some 140 countries.

“RSA is proud to team up once again with BCAA and participate in this year’s Benevolence project,” says Brandon Wong, Team Leader of BCAA Claims. “Giving back to local communities has always been important at RSA, and this project is a great opportunity to give back to the communities where we live and work. Let the nomination process begin!”

For its part, BCAA says it is proud to be donating $1,000 towards the purchase of vehicle insurance as well as an ICBC-accredited vehicle inspection from BCAA’s new Kelowna Auto Service Centre.

“BCAA has been a proud part of the Kelowna community for over 30 years,” says Shelly DiPalma, Manager, Member Experience of BCAA’s West Kelowna Service Location. “We’re glad to partner with RSA and Craftsman Collision to make a difference in our community.”

The three companies urge anyone who knows of a family or non-profit in need of transportation to nominate them on a special page set up on the Craftsman Collision website: www.craftsmancollision.com/freedomroadproject

The Explorer will be awarded on Monday, December 22, 2014

All applications to be remitted no later than Wednesday, December 17, 2014
