Craftsman and Salvation Army fight hunger

For the past 6 years, Craftsman Collision has hosted the Make A Dent Food Drive in partnership with Overwaitea Foods, benefiting The Salvation Army.  Thus far, the campaign effort has raised an overwhelming $197,282 for The Salvation Army in British Columbia.

The Make a Dent Food Drive was held at 13 participating Save–On–Foods and PriceSmart Food locations on Saturday, September 20th and continues to grow across the province each year. The Make a Dent event encourages customers to donate food items or cash, supporting the work of The Salvation Army and both individuals and families in need. All donations stay in the community in which they were made.

“The event was such a great success due largely in part to our staff and their family members.” , says Stacey Cook, Marketing Manager, Craftsman Collision.

Craftsman Collision generously pledges to match every item donated – for every can donated by a participating customer, two cans will make it onto a shelf at a local Salvation Army Community & Family Services operation. The day long food drive event has proven to be an anticipated and highly successful event year after year – raising $49,282 in dollars and in-kind donations in the 2015 Make a Dent campaign alone.

“Each year our staff strive to beat the previous year’s donation total. I have to say this year is unprecedented with almost doubling our donations received and it was all done within 4 hours. We are proud to be able to make a difference in the communities in which we do business.”, says Stacey.

“It was a rainy day on Saturday but that did not deter the efforts of Craftsman Collision and Overwaitea Foods in hosting the Make a Dent Food Drive. We are so grateful for the corporate partnership and the many employees and volunteers that have made a difference in the lives of children and families in our communities who will have food in a time of need. Thank you Craftsman Collision for helping The Salvation Army to give hope, dignity and opportunity throughout BC.”, says Patricia Cuff, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations & Development, Salvation Army.
