At a wine and cheese event on July 25th, the West Kelowna-Westbank First Nation joint Communities in Bloom committee gave special recognition to those who help keep the Westside looking its best and brightest.
The committee worked with master gardeners Heather Doheny, Hermann Matis and Pat Zander to determine winners in eight categories in this year’s Communities in Bloom Most Beautiful Contest.
The most beautiful winners are:
Strata: Sun Village
Business, large: Gorman’s Lumber
Business, small: Craftsman Collision West Kelowna
Residential garden, large: Linda Knowles
Residential garden, small: Katherine Key
Edible garden: Loraine Harding
Tree: Pat and Kurt Zander
The committee thanks everyone who ensured West Kelowna and Westbank First Nation were at its finest for the arrival of the Communities in Bloom judges July 24th. The judges evaluated the community on eight key criteria; tidiness, environmental awareness, community involvement, natural and cultural heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscaped areas, floral displays and turf and ground cover.
Results of the Westside’s participation in the Communities in Bloom competition will be announced at the national awards in Edmonton on October 13th.
